Problem Note 35119: An "Unmatched range and sheetname" error occurs when you export data to Microsoft Excel
The following error can occur when you export data to Excel worksheets:
ERROR: The target file contains unmatched range name and sheet
name. You may use other name or remove the unmatched range/sheet
in the file.
The problem occurs when the Excel worksheet name begins with a numeric value and contains an underscore (_) or a dash (–) and the Excel workbook also begins with a numeric value, as shown in the following example:
proc export data=work.exp_7CIT1Z71011
dbms=Excel
outfile="C:\sastest\7CIT1Z71011.xls" replace;
sheet="14DEC06_16JAN07";
quit;
To circumvent the problem, do one of the following:
- Change the Excel workbook name in the OUTFILE= option to a value that does not begin with a number.
- In SHEET= statement, remove either the number at the beginning of the worksheet name or remove the underscore or dash character from the worksheet name.
